Step-by-step working
  1. Tile + grout footprint = 60.3 × 60.3 cm = 0.3636 m²
  2. Area ÷ footprint = 7.2 ÷ 0.3636 = 19.8 tiles
  3. + 10% and round up = 22

How to use the Tile Calculator

  1. Choose units and enter the area to tile.
  2. Enter the tile size and grout joint width.
  3. Set waste and, optionally, tiles per box and price.
  4. Press Calculate.

Formula

Tiles = ⌈area ÷ ((tile length + joint) × (tile width + joint)) × (1 + waste%)⌉

Examples

  • 3 × 2.4 m floor, 60 × 60 cm tiles, 3 mm joints, 10% waste: 7.2 ÷ 0.3636 = 19.8 → 22 tiles (6 boxes of 4).
